At the age of six, Juhi became aware that she needed to adapt to a life that included the progressive loss of her eyesight. This inspired her to embark on a path of searching for the assistive technology (from white canes to cutting boards) that would best accommodate her declining vision. She researched reading tools and surveyed benefits for legally blind individuals. She sampled computer software and began learning Braille.

As a result, Juhi conceived Cherish Life, a nonprofit organization passionate about getting these products and programs into the hands of those most in need.

“I understand, first-hand, the impact blindness and visual impairments can have on daily life,” says Juhi. “My aim is to increase the access to tools and technology, and thus, decrease the day-to-day challenges for the visually impaired. This will open up education and employment benefits for those who are blind or visually impaired.”
This non-profit’s mission is to support individuals with visual disabilities to achieve their highest levels of independence and potential. People can better adjust to their vision loss when they have options and opportunities. Through financial assistance and education, legally blind and visually impaired recipients can maintain the active, healthy and independent lifestyle everyone deserves.
